About the Name

My grandfather was born in Finland as Jarl Erik Holmström. During the late 1930's as the World Wars were approaching  he wanted, in a patriotic spirit, to change his last name to its Finnish translation.  Holmström literally translated to Finnish is Saarenvirta, my last name.  In English it translates approximately to Islandstream -- hence the business name.  

My family is the only one in the world with the last name Saarenvirta  and anyone with that name is within three generations of my grandfather who was the first.
